Irish Man Pre-Records Message To Play At His Funeral, Leaves Mourners In Tears Of Laughter

Category : travel

For most people, funerals are no joking matter, a time of gloom and serious reflection, a time of grief. But there are those who believe that funerals should be a time of celebration, of laughter through tears, the perfect time to remember and commemorate the lives of the ones we’ve lost. And at times, those who have such beliefs are, in fact, the people who have passed.
One video has recently gone viral and it features footage from a funeral of an Irish man. As family and friends gather around the casket, lowered into the open grave, suddenly a voice comes out of nowhere and proclaims, “Hello?” followed by a loud banging, seemingly coming out of the casket.
Bored Panda reached out to the man’s family for additional comment on the video. Shay’s wife, Anne Bradley, responded by saying that the actual recording was done in one take, over a year before the funeral. “My son told me about the recording the day before his funeral,” Anne revealed, explaining that the closest family was aware of the recording.
A video from an Irish man’s funeral has recently gone viral

As the music of bagpipes fades into the distance, the voice continues: “Let me out, it’s dark in here”. At first, people seem to be confused as to what is happening, but soon, laughter starts to take over.
The man decided to play one final prank on his family with a funny recording

“Let me out. Is that the priest I can hear?” A voice emerged from the ground

The video was originally shared by Andrea Bradley who is the daughter of the late man, Shay Bradley. She uploaded the video to Facebook with the following message: “My dad’s dying wish, always the prankster, ya got them good Poppabear and gave us all a laugh just when we needed it!! I will love you forever #shayslastlaugh”.
You can watch the video of the funeral recording below

“Shay was a prankster, always thought outside the box and wanted to leave his family laughing,” the man’s wife explained. “He was a larger than life character and sadly missed by anyone who knew him,” she concluded.

23 Powerful ‘No Bra Day’ Tweets That Raise Awareness About Breast Cancer

Category : travel

As many of you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Not only that, the 13th of October was No Bra Day. Just like every year, these two phrases went viral online, especially on Twitter.
The goal of No Bra Day is simple and noble: to raise awareness about breast cancer awareness by encouraging women to forgo wearing a bra for one day. We have collected the most powerful #NoBraDay and #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth tweets to help spread the message around the world. Scroll down, upvote the tweets you think are the most powerful and share with your friends because bigger awareness can lead to more lives being saved. And if you feel so inclined, share your stories about cancer in the comments to encourage others who are ill to keep on fighting, as well as to show them that they’re not alone.
Bored Panda reached out to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) to talk about this sensitive topic. The NBCF said that there is a free, comprehensive, online guide to understanding breast cancer called ‘Beyond The Shock.’ “It is a resource for women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, a place for loved ones to gain a better understanding of the disease, and a tool for doctors to share information.” There are also free breast health guides available on the NBCF website right here. Scroll down for the full interview.#1Image credits: hordunadee#2Image credits: Miss_Sinabo#3Image credits: jadorejonteleThe NBCF told Bored Panda that early detection is “our greatest weapon against breast cancer today.””When breast cancer is detected early and is in the localized stage, the 5-year relative survival rate is 99%. Early detection includes doing monthly breast self-exams and scheduling regular clinical breast exams and mammograms,” a representative of the National Breast Cancer Foundation explained. “That’s why it’s important for women to be aware of their own bodies, to go to their annual well-women exams, and to get their annual mammograms starting at the age of 40 or following their doctor’s best recommendation. We often hear of women who are embarrassed or just don’t have time for their check-ups. As women, it’s common for us to delay an appointment that seems to only be about us. Self-care is necessary and being proactive about our breast health is what we can do to make sure we are here longer for our ourselves and our loved ones.”#4Image credits: bossmassy#5Image credits: aproko_doctor#6Image credits: volqx”We do see a rise in donations during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. With the cause of breast cancer being top of mind in October, and for many of those who are personally impacted by this disease, we see individuals, companies, and groups unite to show their support for our mission to help women and families directly impacted by this disease,” the NBCF representative continued. “The tremendous support we see during Breast Cancer Awareness Month has a lasting effect on the work we do throughout the year. Awareness is important but we strive to go beyond that by providing educational information about early detection, breast health education, and by sharing stories of women whose lives have been saved by a free mammogram or the help of a patient navigator, and by employing full transparency in how our supporters’ gifts and actions make an impact on our mission. We believe that awareness plus action is how we can make the biggest difference during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.”#7Image credits: aproko_doctor#8Image credits: kvngSpice#9Image credits: OkparahOladipoG”The risk of breast cancer increases as a person gets older,” the NBCF revealed. “Two out of three women with invasive cancer are diagnosed after age 55. However, breast cancer can affect young women and women under 40 years old who have never even gotten a mammogram. Age is not something that we can control or slow down, but we can get some of that control back when we create a plan of action for our breast health and follow it. All women, regardless of age, can start with that.”#10Image credits: ezema10#11Image credits: bownarrow007#12Image credits: David_LeavittThe very first No Bra Day occurred in 2011, but back then it was held in the middle of Summer, on July 9. However, within 3 years it was moved to October 13, so that it would coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The #NoBraDay hashtag is meant to spread awareness of what breast cancer symptoms are, as well as to encourage gender equality.Unfortunately, what should be a straightforward day about awareness, unity, and health is partly marred by controversy. Some people believe that No Bra Day unfairly sexualizes and exploits women’s bodies and belittles a serious, life-altering disease. In fact, there are some who believe that certain less-savory media outlets use No Bra Day as an excuse to get more readers and don’t really care about awareness at all. While others, like the CEO of Living Beyond Breast Cancer Jean Sachs, believe that No Bra Day is offensive in the first place: “I mean breast cancer is a life-threatening illness. It has nothing to do with wearing a bra or not wearing a bra.”#13Image credits: BabyStainless_#14Image credits: Sohmto_Duru#15Image credits: OhloowatosceneRegular checkups are incredibly important, even if you don’t have a history of breast cancer in the family. According to the Cancer Treatment Centers of America, the symptoms of breast tumors vary from person to person. But some early warning signs of breast cancer can be the following:An increase in size or change in shape of the breast(s)Changes in the appearance of one or both nipplesNipple discharge other than breast milkGeneral pain in/on any part of the breastLumps or nodes felt on or inside of the breast#16Image credits: ayotunde_teejah#17Image credits: jm_freelance#18Image credits: Mazi_Ujam1#19Image credits: Lytevents1#20Image credits: FaruqBashar#21Image credits: RubedinousRowe#22Image credits: Headking_#23Image credits: umar_ayotunde

45 Times People Captured Hilariously Ironic Moments (New Pics)

Category : travel

Some days, you can’t help but believe in the idea that irony is a living, breathing, cosmic force with a very unusual sense of humor and a personal interest in your life. And if you’re one of the rare people who don’t believe in things like irony or fate, don’t worry, we’re pretty sure that they believe in you.
Bored Panda’s collected some of the finest, most iconic (some might even go as far as to say ‘epic’) ironic moments in the recent history of the internet. So get ready to have a good chuckle as you scroll down. Drop us a comment somewhere below explaining which moments you thought were particularly ironic. And remember to upvote your favorite pics, as well as share the post with your amigos who might be in need of some cheering up. Scroll down for Bored Panda’s informative interview with Albert Katz, Professor Emeritus from Western University, who went into detail about irony, its types, uses, as well as how we process it.
Also be sure to look through Bored Panda’s previous post about the most ironic moments ever, as well as our list of the most ironic things that ever happened.#1 Kids, This Is What We Call IronyImage credits: MRVANCLEAVEREDDIT#2 Amazing IronyImage credits: heroinaddict27#3 Uhmm…Image credits: jameshaningThere were a couple of moments with unexpectedly delicious ironic twists that stuck in our heads. The first one was how an empty Nigerian apartment was discovered to hold 43 million dollars (shame on us thinking that every single one of those spam emails from supposed princes was from scammers!). While the second one was how publications like Cosmopolitan can support radically different points of view in different articles.Bored Panda interviewed Albert Katz, Professor Emeritus of Cognitive, Developmental, and Brain Sciences from Western University’s Department of Psychology. The professor went into detail about the topic of irony.“In my studies I have found that university-level students have a pretty clear notion of sarcasm, but are actually quite vague about irony,” the professor said. According to him, there are several types of irony, such as the irony of fate in literature. An example of that would be Oedipus unknowingly killing his father and marrying mother.#4 The Irony Of These DaysImage credits: soyvickxn#5 Dogs Are Not Allowed On Beach Due To Possibility That They Might Make A Mess#6 Oh The IronyImage credits: pangalaktichkiMost of us instinctively understand when a situation is ironic. However, it’s far more difficult to explain what exactly irony is using words. Throughout history, there have been hundreds of suggestions on how best to define it. And some of us might even have our own private definitions of what irony is.#7 Walmart EmployeeImage credits: twows995#8 National Geographic Magazine Has Arrived. With An Alert About Excessive Use Of Plastic. It Comes In A Plastic Shrink. And Inside A Plastic Bag To Reinforce The ProtectionImage credits: SergioFonseca#9 Oh The IronyImage credits: abdullah10The most basic definition of irony will include that it’s a contradiction between what’s expected and what actually happens in real life. When you put it like that, you come to realize that irony really is all about expectations being shattered in a humorous way.Professor Katz said: “There are several components that usually go into irony, and turning irony into sarcasm. Basically, a central motif is the violation of an expectation. But the context in which that violation occurs may make it humorous or not, or sarcastic or not.”#10 Oh The IronyImage credits: xthree#11 This Sign In My Kid’s Elementary School Fills Me With Nihilistic JoyImage credits: clifflampe#12 The IronyImage credits: reddit.comA thing that a lot of us mix up is verbal irony and sarcasm. Though they’re usually used interchangeably, they’re not the same. One way to remember the difference is this: sarcasm is primarily used to insult someone or cause them harm. If it hurts your feelings, it’s most likely sarcasm, not irony. Now that’s a piece of trivia that you can really wow your friends with.Katz agreed with the idea that sarcasm has “a negative usage” when compared to “verbal irony, such as how we use it in everyday speech.”“One can think of irony used sarcastically (e.g. when saying something framed positively, but intending a negative insulting meaning: when one says “you’re my best friend” just after said friend did something mean). But one can also get irony used in the opposite way, such as saying something that on the surface sounds nasty, but is meant positively (e.g. “You’re sooo bad”).”#13 Nigerian Princes Were Real All This TimeImage credits: mathouchens#14 The Irony PresentImage credits: christianbrowdr#15 Effing HorribleImage credits: KEEMSTAR“The question of how easy it is to understand or get the point of irony, or sarcasm, is a difficult one,” the professor noted. “People differ both in the habitual usage of irony or sarcasm and when dealing with a person who often uses sarcasm, for instance, people sometimes erroneously interpret an ambiguous comment not intended ironically as being ironic, or sarcastic.”“Also there is research that indicates individual differences in using and understanding irony in general,” Katz explained. “Some people are very literal thinkers and miss the irony presented. Some of my own work indicates that the processing of irony occurs almost immediately during comprehension. One doesn’t think about it and at some later point think, oh, was he being ironic when he said X.”“One thing I do believe is that the processing of irony, or sarcasm, is not based on any one factor, such as a failed expectation, but on a set of computations going on simultaneously,” the professor added.#16 Stop Texting While DrivingImage credits: BeanBean420#17 Wasps Made A Nest On My Wasp Spray BottleImage credits: kabdelgaber#18 Quite Ironic Really#19 My Mom Is Cleaning Out The Library At The Preschool Where She Works And Sent Me ThisImage credits: toodles90#20 You’re WelcomeImage credits: ShermheadRyder#21 Oh The IronyImage credits: Septim202#22 Ironic That My Pup Chewed Up This Specific Cards Against Humanity CardImage credits: JaredGutie#23 Not Too Good At Her JobImage credits: OctopussSevenTwo#24 How Did He Get Hired?#25 My Car Displays A Long Distracting Message Reminding You To Not Participate In Distracted Driving–while DrivingImage credits: IAmTheFartThatKnocks#26 The Epitome Of IronyImage credits: DMvampire#27 Well Now, That’s IronicImage credits: KHammeth#28 Lady Posts On Facebook To Complain About Employees Not Helping Disabled Customer While Simultaneously Not Helping, EitherImage credits: Whodatboi69#29 I Found This Picture To Be Incredibly IronicImage credits: iderf#30 Oh The Irony#31 Live. 30 Worst Advertising Slogans And Taglines

Category : travel

Both slogans and taglines are very important for a brand’s positioning in the business. They only differ in their scope: a tagline represents an entire business, while a slogan usually only represents a single product or is a part of a particular advertising campaign. Dan Cullen-Shute, chief executive and co-founder of the independent advertising agency, Creature London, says, “We live in a world where brands think they need ‘purpose’.” Brands want their audiences not only to perceive a product but also to connect it with a higher purpose. That’s where slogans and taglines come in – the best ones capture this higher purpose in a memorable way. For example, everyone and their mothers can surely recall Nike’s call to action “Just Do It” or Red Bull’s promise to “give you wings.” However, not all slogans seem to work. Some appear at bad timing – for example, the ad for Ayds – an appetite suppressant – aired a TV commercial along with the slogan “Lose weight deliciously with the aid of Ayds.” Given that the brand’s name sounded phonetically identical to AIDS and that it aired during the epidemic period of the disease… well, I guess you can sort this one out yourselves. Bored Panda has compiled for you a whole list of various brand’s slogans and taglines that are just plain bad, weird or blatantly stupid, so scroll down below to see them all.#1 Sitting On Faces Since 2001Image credits: wilksonk907#2 The More You Play With It, The Harder It GetsImage credits: seed#3 Nothing Sucks Like An ElectroluxImage credits: unknown#4 After Dinner, You Can Stab Your DateImage credits: Pleasant_Jim#5 Good LuckImage credits: unknown#6 Something For Every HoleImage credits: margeincharge#7 The Best Things In Life Come In Cellophane#8 Wow WayImage credits: cgtnamerica#9 You Can Never Be Too Thin; Tastes As Good As Skinny FeelsImage credits: Grieve#10 Men Are Better Than Women!Image credits: unknown#11 Cheat On Your Girlfriend, Not On Your WorkoutImage credits: jakedaily#12 Imagine More Snacks Than You Can ImagineImage credits: uknown#13 Went Shopping And Found This Ad Promoting Safe SexImage credits: reddit.com#14 She Can Have A Tummy… And Still Look Yummy!Image credits: unknown#15 #BecauseNoReasonImage credits: unknown#16 The Beer That Beer Would DrinkImage credits: Mark Duffy#17 Lose Weight Deliciously With The Aid Of AydsImage credits: Kevin Noonan#18 Va-Dry-Na?Image credits: Daniel Dougherty#19 It’s Amazing What You Can Do With Two Fingers And A ThumbImage credits: Vandelay797#20 It’s Not For WomenImage credits: jennacastro#21 Approach Women Like You Do Wild Animals, With Caution And A Soothing VoiceImage credits: Nick Momrik#22 Painfully ThickImage credits: t.wat#23 If We Can’t Have Fresh Air, At Least We Can Have Fresh MuffinsImage credits: Mark Duffy#24 White Is PurityImage credits: FabianWolfgang#25 You Only Know What You’re Made Of When You’ve Been Stuffed A Few TimesImage credits: WrongUn#26 Look Like A Girl, Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man, Work Like A BossImage credits: dylmg#27 She’s Seen More Ceilings… Than Michelangelo; You’re Not Popular… You’re EasyImage credits: Graine Loughran#28 What Can Brown Do For You?Image credits: unknown#29 Spike Up Your Best Friend’s Eggnog When They’re Not LookingImage credits: Louise#30 Open Your Snack HoleImage credits: cornichon

This National Park In America Has A Fattest Bear Competition And Here Are Its Top 8 Chonky Fluffs

Category : travel

We, humans, seem to have an awfully endless fascination with chubby animals, regardless of whether we’re talking about pets such as dogs and cats, or be it some wild animals. But in this particular case, the celebration of chonkiness is very well earned as these brown bears of Katmai National Park put their best effort into this essential part of their lives. As for most animals who hibernate during the wintertime, it’s necessary for them to get that every bit of fat possible, so they don’t starve themselves out during their long winter nap. Katmai’s workers had this brilliant idea of how to both celebrate it and educate the masses. Scroll down to find out all about it!
More info: Katmai National Park
Katmai National Park in Alaska came up with this beautiful idea to celebrate brown bears’ success in preparing for winter

A habitat to quite a strong handful of brown bears, Katmai National Park thought of a simple yet beautiful way to get people invested in the lives of its habitants by arranging the Fattest Bear Competition on their Facebook page, where they post comparison pictures of the bears before and after bulking up. They encourage people to vote and thus select the winner. This year, Holly turned out to be the queen of hearts and it was joyfully announced that, “She is fat. She is fabulous. She is 435 Holly. And you voted her the 2019 Fat Bear Week Champion. All hail Holly whose healthy heft will help her hibernate until the spring. Long live the Queen of Corpulence!”
By making the Fattest Bear Competition on their Facebook page

And having people vote for their favorite chonks living in the park

Katmai Park is known to some people not only for their awesome Fattest Bear contest but for having this amazing bear cam where you can spectate the life of brown bears whenever you want. The cameras are located by the Brooks Falls Wildlife Viewing Platform at Brooks Camp. The best time to stalk the bears is during the months of June and July when the salmon are jumping the falls most actively. Sometimes you can see up to 25 bears at the same time!
This is Grazier prior and post his summer salmon diet

Some bears don’t have particular names but still compete with the fellas

This little cub did a nice job chonking up and made it to the competition as well

And while all of them did a nice job getting round and chubby, which is essential for successful hibernation

There could only be one queen or king of the Fat Bear Week

This chubby girl was competing with Holly in the finals

All hail the queen Holly though!

31 ‘Joker’ Facts That Make The Movie Even More Interesting

Category : travel

This past week, the internet has done little else but talk about the new Joker movie that has hit silver screens worldwide. Some think it’s the movie of the decade. Some think it’s so insensitive it should be banned. And some embraced the spirit of Joker’s character, grabbed a bag of popcorn, and enjoyed the ensuing chaos and fights over the movie.

30 Of The Funniest ‘What Idiot Called It’ Memes

Category : travel

Some people believe that puns are the lowest form of comedy possible. We humbly believe that these people are wrong. In our opinion, puns are fantastic because they’re a quick way to improve someone’s mood while showing off your linguistic skills, as well as the power of your imagination.
One of our favorite puntastic joke categories is “what idiot called it X and not Y,” where a word that everyone knows is taken and a punny alternative is suggested to replace it. Simple but effective and almost guaranteed to improve your mood and crack a smile.
So scroll down, enjoy, and share with your friends and family to spread the joy. Let us know in the comments if you know of any similar jokes and remember to upvote your faves in this list.#1Image credits: ACflurane#2Image credits: chuuew#3Image credits: WheezyNurseAccording to Howard Richler on The Senior Times, plenty of well-known and respected individuals have had a go at puns. Like neurologist Sigmund Freud, who thinks that they’re cheap, and the former Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States Oliver Wendell Holmes, who thought that puns were “verbicide.” Ouch.Plenty of English writers living in the 17th and 18th centuries (John Dryden, Daniel Defoe, Joseph Addison, others) thought that puns were ambiguous, created confusion and prevented the English language from finally being perfected.#4Image credits: daemonic3#5Image credits: lordoftheshibs#6Image credits: PeachCoffinThough we use the term ‘puns’ quite interchangeably, the fact is, there are many different types of puns. For example, for homophonic puns: the humor lies in the fact that these jokes treat homonyms as though they are synonyms. “Why is it so wet in London? Because so many kings and queens reign there,” is a perfect example of this.#7Image credits: chetporter#8Image credits: tomdale#9Image credits: TheWeirdWorldBesides homophonic puns, there are also homographic puns (“Did you hear about the optician who fell into a lens grinder and made a spectacle of himself?”). And if you combine the two, you get homonymic puns: “She was only a rancher’s daughter, but all the horsemen knew her.”#10Image credits: WheezyNurse#11Image credits: mattytalks#12Image credits: NoTheOtherJohnThere are also compound puns (“Where do you find giant snails? On the end of giants’ fingers”) and recursive puns, in which the second part of the joke depends on you understanding the first part. An example of this would be: “A Freudian slip is where you say one thing and mean your mother.” What’s your favorite types of pun?
